Upcoming Event: Carla Killough McClafferty
The Big Rock Reading Series Announces
Carla Killough McClafferty
Young Adult Nonfiction Writer
Thursday, March 28, 2013 @ 6:00 p.m.
In what may be one of the greatest blurb moments, McClafferty says she “writes nonfiction books
with the boring parts removed” and fills her books with details that make true
stories come to life for her readers. Her book, The Many Faces of George Washington: Remaking a Presidential Icon,
asks the question: Did Washington REALLY look like his image on the
dollar bill? Describing the book as “C.S.I. meets the Biography
Channel,” she follows Mount Vernon’s team of experts as they study Washington’s
clothes, hair, and dentures to find the answer. The book’s biographical
sections reveal George Washington like you’ve never seen him before.
Join us Thursday night to hear more about this fascinating book, along with a bit of insight into McClafferty's writing process and choice of audience, young adults!
